Foster families need more than a calling; they need a community.

Retention helps foster and adoptive families continue faithfully by surrounding them with

practical support, encouragement, and care. Galatians 6:2 tells us to “bear one another’s’ burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Foster care can be beautiful, but it can also be heavy. Families often carry emotional, physical, and spiritual weight as they love children through uncertainty, trauma, court dates, reunification transitions, and loss. Without meaningful support, many families eventually become overwhelmed.

The church has a unique opportunity to come alongside these families, so they do not

feel alone. Prayer, encouragement, meals, babysitting, respite care, meeting tangible needs, and walking alongside families in hard seasons make the world of a difference.

Retention is not just about keeping homes open.

It is about strengthening families through help, support, and a community rooted in

Christ.

It is easy for foster families to feel invisible, to feel the choice they made to foster precludes them from help because it was a choice they made. Through the Foster Friendly program Unite assures families they are seen and appreciated for all they do. Learn how Unite is continually building support systems for families.
